Gaplan Resume

This page showcases my Gaplan resume.

My Gaplan resume covers my endeavors within the Federated States of Gapla and not my academics, volunteer activities, or extracurriculars. My academic resume covers these all of these topics, but not my Gaplan endeavors, and is available here.

1. A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF GAPLA

For those unfamiliar, Gapla is a new country project born from an unconventional application of international law. It’s attracted press attention, including an interview from a reporter from The Guardian, and has garnered over 300 citizenship applicants from dozens of countries around the world. You can visit its website at my.gaplagov.org.

2. EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND

On August 24, 2015, I co-founded the United Republics of Gapla and Phoenix with Ian Shin, as a primitive micronation. At this point, the project was mostly a game, with fictional elements and nonexistent territory. Following my discovery of the micronational community on February 28, 2019, I declared the Federated States of Gapla as a micronation of its own, and a restoration of Gapla-Phoenix. Gapla now had a defined territory and a real presence, and was no longer just a game as Gapla-Phoenix was over three years ago.

Today, Gapla has evolved into something more serious: a project to create a new nation. Throughout 2023 and 2024 (and in an effort that will likely continue through 2025), Gapla is evolving to become an innovative new country project dedicated to settling our territory nestled between Serbia and Croatia. In this context, I declared Gapla’s provisional government in order to transition from a micronation to a serious new country project.

Gapla does not officially describe itself as a micronation today, being quite distinct from the micronational community. However, this term is often informally used to explain the concept of Gapla to those who may be completely unfamiliar with Gapla. I am currently serving as the first Speaker of the Council of Ministers in Gapla’s provisional government, the Prince of the Danubias (and thereby the Sovereign Prince of the Federated States of Gapla).

As for my education, I am currently attending the Royal Gaplastovian Academy (RGA) and Stanford University Online High School.
